
The annual conference “Forum Econogy” of the Energieinstitut an der JKU Linz – organized in cooperation with the Ars Electronica Center – took place on Monday, 14th September 2020 in Linz. This year’s conference focused the role of investments and measures in the energy system as a driver of job creation, national economies and innovation in times of pandemic.
The Forum Econogy 2020 was opened by Markus Achleitner, President of the association Energieinstitut at the JKU Linz. The Keynote Speaker was Prof. Dr. Christoph Badelt, Director of the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO), and afterwards the experts at the Energieinstitut an der JKU Linz discussed with national and international experts from the Regional Leaders’ Summit the main directions and different effects to boost and re-strengthen the economies during and after COVID-19.
In the second part of the event, the Energieinstitut an der JKU Linz presented novel results and approaches to technological, socio-economic and regulatory measures, and for the first time the results of a specially funded analysis of the economic effects of an accelerated investment in renewable energies (and related storage systems) as a significant job engine for the Austrian economy by Dr. Sebastian Goers and em.o.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Friedrich Schneider.
