Big interest in industrial decarbonisation. IETS webinar series: 3 webinars, 31 pitches and 154 registrations

Our webinar series on the ‘Transformation of Industrial Energy Systems’ has been successfully concluded. In concise pitch sessions, the full scope of international research collaboration in the field of industrial energy technologies within the framework of IEA IETS was presented.

It became clear that solutions for a decarbonised industry have long been in the starting blocks. A wide range of approaches from research and practice were presented – from electrification and Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) to industrial symbiosis.

The fact that 30 experts presented their projects in this format demonstrates the enormous diversity within the IETS tasks. The total of 154 registrations proved that there is considerable interest in concrete solutions for industrial decarbonisation.

The international IETS research collaborations are organised into thematic working groups (“Tasks”). The content was based on the current IETS Tasks:

IETS Task 21: Subtask 4: Carbon Capture in Industry (Lead: Simon Moser, Energieinstitut an der JKU Linz)
IETS Task 21: Subtask 5: Facilitation of Industrial Symbiosis (Lead: Simon Moser, Energieinstitut an der JKU Linz)
IETS Task 22: Energy flexibility in energy-intensive industries (Lead: Martin Fischer, Vienna University of Technology)
IETS Task 23: Barriers and drivers for the transformation of industrial energy, technologies and systems (Lead: Sophie Knöttner, AIT)
