Organized by VÖWG & VKÖ and DECA – A Voice for Energy Efficiency, the workshop “AG Municipal Heat – Implementation of EED III in Austria” took place on April 23, 2026.
During the workshop, Michael Denk discussed the role of data centers as a previously underestimated source of waste heat. In his presentation, he highlighted the potential of systematically utilizing waste heat from data centers – particularly in the context of municipal heat planning. Given the increasing requirements of the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED III), this approach is becoming increasingly important for a sustainable and efficient heat supply.
