How different are the framework conditions for hydrogen in Austria, Slovakia and Hungary really? It was precisely this question that took centre stage at the ELEVATEcee Best Practice Workshop #2, held as part of the ELEVATEcee Working Conference #2 on 3 May 2026 in Győr. One thing became particularly clear during the workshop: Regional differences are significant and this is precisely where the need for discussion lies.
In the ELEVATEcee project, the Energy Institute at JKU Linz, together with project partners from Slovakia and Hungary, is analysing national hydrogen strategies and framework conditions across six key areas: 🤝 Policy ⚖️ Law ⚙️ Technology 👥 Social 🌱 Ecology 📈 Economy
The direct country comparisons led to fascinating, and in some cases very concrete, discussions with representatives from public authorities, energy companies, organisations and the project partners. It became clear that, in order to break down barriers, seize opportunities and harness cross-border potential, we need not only analyses but also practical and coordinated recommendations for action.
The aim: to derive concrete recommendations for action from the insights gathered.
These will be presented, discussed and validated together at Workshop #3 in December in Slovakia.
