On July 3rd, the societal embeddedness level (SEL) of Underground Hydrogen Storage (UHS) was discussed during the 4th International Summer School on UHS in Copenhagen.
The session included insights from the EUH2STARS project, where SEL is evaluated in Austria, Spain, the Netherlands, and Hungary.
Moderated by Tessa Bosch (TNO), the session featured:
– Maria Noone (Arup, UK) sharing UK perspectives,
– Mads Damsø Nielsen (Gas Storage Denmark) offering Danish insights,
Tessa Bosch (TNO) and Darja Markova (Energieinstitut an der JKU Linz) presenting the SEL methodology and first results from Austria.
The panel discussion was further enriched by Anitha Andiappan (RAG Austria AG), who shared valuable lessons on stakeholder engagement and communication strategies from the Austrian demo site in Rubensdorf.
A great exchange of knowledge on how to embed UHS projects into their societal contexts – essential for the long-term success!
