Factsheet ‘Regulatory sandboxes in the energy sector in Austria’

As part of the accompanying research for the research programme Energie.Frei.Raum funded by the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation & Technology and managed by the FFG, the Energy Institute at the JKU Linz has produced a factsheet that provides basic information on the scope and possible use of regulatory sandboxes in the energy sector in Austria.

What are regulatory sandboxex?

  • They make it possible to test new energy technologies and market designs under real conditions in order to promote their development.
  • The experience gained from the sandboxes can be used to determine how the legal framework can be adapted so as not to prevent favourable technologies and business models from entering the market.

Would you like to find out more about the objectives of the instrument, the legal basis and the utilisation of the sandboxes? You can find all the details here: Factsheet
