Last week, the final conference of the EU project CORALIS (http://coralis-h2020.eu) took place in Brussels. Our colleague Johannes Lindorfer presented the developments of the industrial clusters Basauri, Linz and Izmit.
Key questions: How can the systemic transformation of energy and industrial sectors succeed? What is the role of business models, regulatory frameworks and data use in collaboration?
Key findings:
– Regulatory hurdles, in particular lengthy approval processes and unclear CO2 use guidelines, can slow progress.
– Data sharing requires trust – new forms of collaboration are needed.
– Neutral ‘facilitators’ are essential to move industrial symbiosis from theory to practice.
– Training programmes for public administrations and other stakeholders must anchor industrial symbiosis more broadly.
Special thanks go to our partners in Linz: LAT Nitrogen, voestalpine Stahl GmbH and K1-MET GmbH. Their commitment shows how successful cross-company cooperation can drive sustainable transformation!
