On 27 November 2025, the Green Energy Lab hosted an event that impressively demonstrated the key role that research, innovation, and system integration play in the energy transition.
Our colleagues Stefan Puschnigg and Gregor Riha attended the event and followed presentations on numerous key initiatives in the areas of sector coupling, heat utilization, and energy flexibility. In addition, interviews and statements by board members together with Susanne Supper (Managing Director of the Green Energy Lab) provided insights into the development of the model region and its future strategic direction.
The discussions between the presentations and during the closing session highlighted that, in addition to technological progress, the following aspects are especially crucial for achieving the energy and heating transition:
- system integration,
- market design,
- data access, and
- user orientation.
Further information on the exciting project pitches — including DOPPLER, Space4Wind, Car2Flex, Spatial Energy Planning II, BM Retrofit, ScaleUP, ATES Vienna, Energy Hub Neusiedl, Hybridspeicher Theiß, and ExTra — can be found on the Green Energy Lab website.
We would like to thank the Green Energy Lab and all partner organizations for the valuable exchange and the excellent event.
