How can a power grid be kept stable and secure when the electricity comes from numerous and naturally volatile sources?
In the FFG-funded POWERCAST project, RISC Software GmbH, the Energieinstitut an der JKU Linz, LINZ NETZ GmbH, APG Austrian Power Grid AG and HAKOM Time Series are developing the basis for a stable and sustainable energy grid. An AI-based load forecasting model should help to minimise forecasting errors. By integrating continuously updatable data sources into the forecasting model (e.g. weather data), electricity production from volatile renewable technologies can be predicted more precisely.
In the POWERCAST image video, Stefanie Kritzinger-Griebler (RISC), Helmut Grüneis (LINZ NETZ) and our colleagues Johannes Reichl and Katharina Rusch inform about the project.
