Hydrogen on the rise: The HI2 Valley project is moving forward!

The HI2 Valley project promotes the development of a large-scale hydrogen (H₂) economy based on renewable energy sources in the Austrian industrial regions of Upper Austria, Styria, and Carinthia.

The project is currently looking at the regulatory framework along the hydrogen value chain (Jovana Winkler) and perceptions of hydrogen, with the aim of deriving recommendations for successful communication strategies. (Raphael Gottweis).

With € 20 million in EU funding and a total investment volume of €588 million, HI2 Valley is making significant progress towards a hydrogen-based future. The project is also supported by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership.

In mid-September, the HI2 Valley project consortium met for the second time, at JKU Linz this time. The two days were used by over 45 participants to delve deeper into sub-projects and plan the next implementation steps. A particular highlight was the excursion to voestalpine, which included an opportunity to see the electrolyser that is already producing green hydrogen.
