How to get to linz
Linz is located in Upper Austria, in the heart of Central Europe, and is well connected by rail to major cities in Austria and neighbouring countries. For international participants travelling by air, Vienna International Airport is usually the main arrival point. Linz Airport may also be an option depending on available flight connections.
By Train
Linz Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) is located on one of Austria’s main railway routes. Frequent trains connect Linz with Vienna and Salzburg, while direct international services are also available from Munich and other cities in Central Europe.

By Air
Vienna International Airport (VIE) offers the widest range of international connections. Direct ÖBB Railjet and Intercity services connect Vienna Airport with Linz, with the fastest journeys taking around 1 hour and 40 minutes.
Linz Airport (LNZ) is located just outside Linz. It offers scheduled and seasonal flights, with destinations varying throughout the year. Bus line 601 connects the airport directly with Linz Central Station in around 22 minutes. Participants planning to use Linz Airport should check the current flight schedule before booking.
Depending on available flight connections, Salzburg Airport (SZG) and Munich Airport (MUC) may also be suitable alternatives, with onward connections to Linz by public transport.
Getting Around Linz
Linz has a compact city centre and a well-connected public transport network. Trams and buses connect the Linz Central Station, the city centre and other parts of Linz. Many destinations in the centre can also be reached on foot.

Public transport in Linz is operated by LINZ AG LINIEN. Trams and buses serve destinations throughout the city.
Tickets are available from ticket machines at tram stops and via the LinzMobil app. Single, short-distance and 24-hour tickets are available.

Taxis
