AEM Electrolysis: Scaling, Integration, Utilization, and Manufacturing
We are pleased to announce the official launch of ELYSIUM, a pioneering research project addressing key challenges in anion exchange membrane water electrolysis (AEMWE) and paving the way for scalable, cost-efficient, and sustainable hydrogen production.
Under the coordination of HyCentA Research GmbH, and in collaboration with H2i GreenHydrogen, voestalpine Stahl GmbH, and the “Energieinstitut an der JKU Linz” , the project with a duration of 36 months will focus on:
🔬 Advancing noble-metal-free and PFAS-free membrane electrodes with high power density
⚙️ Developing innovative, scalable catalyst coating technologies
♻️ Optimizing sustainable process and electrolyte management systems
🔋 Evaluating the durability and integration potential of key components under dynamic operation with renewable energy sources
At the “Energieinstitut an der JKU Linz”, we are particularly excited to contribute by conducting a comprehensive environmental life cycle assessment (LCA) and social LCA, thereby supporting the ecological and social sustainability of the developed technologies.
