Project start of HyEfRe, part of the INTERREG Central Europe program

Exciting news!

We are pleased to announce the launch of the HyEfRe (Hydrogen Integration for Efficient Renewable Energy Systems) project under the INTERREG Central Europe program.

HyEfRe aims to address the challenges of integrating volatile renewable energy sources, improving energy efficiency and decarbonizing the Central European energy system. The aim of the project is to create an investment-friendly environment to promote renewable energy and green hydrogen technologies as cross-sectoral solutions and to integrate waste heat as a holistic approach.

As part of the project, the extension of the optimization tool (building on our previous project “DanuP-2-Gas”) and the development of a regional hydrogen production and consumption model will be carried out. The models will be tested in six Central European regions, and the respective legal frameworks and public acceptance will be evaluated.

In HyEfRe, the Energieinstitut an der JKU Linz:

  • Analyzes legal barriers specifically for waste heat utilization and hydrogen production
  • Conducts stakeholder evaluations as part of the acceptance analysis of hydrogen technologies
  • Contributes to the development of business cases

Stay tuned as we embark on this transformative journey towards a greener and more efficient energy future!
