CORALIS

Creation Of new value chain Relations through novel Approaches facilitating Lon-term Industrial Symbiosis

Coralis

Project Description

Industrial symbiosis is a systems approach that links different industrial stakeholders to use underutilized resources in a more integrated and sustainable way. Europe needs further knowledge on industrial symbiosis, especially regarding the implementation and operational phases, which require the support of harmonized frameworks and data provision structures. The EU-funded CORALIS project is a demonstration project designed to implement real-world industrial symbiosis initiatives and to prevent barriers associated with these initiatives. The project addresses the technical, managerial, and economic factors that form the basis for the maturity of industrial symbiosis.
For the evaluation of results, CORALIS provides a harmonized framework that is implemented in a virtual evaluation platform.
In addition to the qualitative evaluation of results around a harmonized framework, the Energieinstitut coordinates the activities in the project to interact and explore cooperation opportunities between Borealis Agrolinz Melamine and voestalpine for the production and use of renewable hydrogen.
