Project Description

MultiFutures: New paths for a sustainable future
The MultiFutures research project, funded under Horizon Europe, aims to shape the transition to a sustainable, climate-neutral, equitable, and resilient society. By developing and evaluating alternative transformation pathways based on diverse economic theories and innovative paradigms, MultiFutures opens up new perspectives for sustainable policy-making.

Our approach:
Paradigm taxonomy: Use of state-of-the-art AI tools and qualitative methods for the systematic recording and classification of alternative economic paradigms.
Quantified scenarios: Development of detailed transition scenarios using indicators that go beyond gross domestic product, with a focus on climate neutrality, social justice, and economic resilience.
Stakeholder engagement: Intensive involvement of citizens, political decision-makers, and experts in the joint development of visions for the future and balanced political strategies.
Integrated impact analysis: Evaluation of the economic, environmental, social, and technological impacts of the proposed paradigms using comprehensive modeling approaches.

A survey of over 18,000 Europeans supports the project in better understanding and promoting the acceptance of alternative visions of the future.
