Plastic films are generated in a variety of waste streams, and currently only a few of these streams are considered in film recycling facilities. Adapting the recycling processes to the respective waste streams is crucial for expanding the portfolio of input streams for film recycling companies and thus for increasing the recycling rate.
The research project FolienKreislauf2030 aims to explore specific adaptations of the recycling processes for plastic films in order to optimize the value-added cycles in film recycling with regard to high quality, high discharge volume and low waste. The goal is to increase the recycling rate by expanding the possibilities of the film value-added cycles. The Energieinstitut is working on an eco-efficiency analysis of recycling options.
