Quality of life at the heart of climate adaptation research

The ACTWELL research project („ACTive WELL-being through climate adaptation“) examines the impact of climate change adaptation measures, such as heat and flood protection, on the quality of life of different population groups. Using the innovative Adaptation Wedges Concept (AWC), we analyse which measures are particularly effective in strengthening resilience and well-being. In close collaboration with six Austrian regions, we are developing evidence-based strategies and policy guidelines to ensure climate adaptation reduces risks and promotes social justice, health, and well-being in line with the SDGs.

The kick-off meeting of our new ACTWELL project marks the beginning of an exciting climate adaptation project in Austria. Together with our project partners — the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS), the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), and Zwanzigvierzig — we are forming an interdisciplinary team.

We look forward to collaborating with all partners and we are happy for the successful project launch!
