Our colleagues Karin Fazeni-Fraisl, Lukas Zeilerbauer and Magdalena Pflügl took part in two exciting events at the beginning of July that were dedicated to the future of mechanical plastics recycling as one of the key technologies for implementing a circular economy!
The circPLAST-mr symposium on July 3 at the JKU – LIT Open Innovation Center offered an excellent platform for the exchange of ideas and networking with leading experts in the circular economy and mechanical plastics recycling, with guest lectures, panel discussions and insights into current research.
The partner meeting on July 4 at Borealis made it possible to discuss the progress of the project and gain valuable insights into the work of the other partners. This was followed by a tour of the Borealis plant.
About the circPLAST-mr project: circPLAST-mr is dedicated to the mechanical recycling of plastics with the aim of producing high-quality recyclates from waste plastics. The circPLAST-mr research project, led by the Institute of Polymeric Materials and Testing (IPMT) at JKU, brings together 25 partners from industry and science for the first time in Austria to increase the proportion of recycled plastics and improve the closed plastics cycle.
Our contribution: The Energieinstitut an der JKU Linz is working on an LCA-oriented process design and the legal aspects of the project. By using digital technologies and modern sensor techniques, we contribute to the technical and economic-ecological optimization of the processes.
