IEA-Task 42 - III

IEA Bioenergy Task 42 2022-2024

Iea Task 42 Bionergy

Project Description

The establishment of biorefineries for the provision of energy and products based on renewable resources forms the basis of a sustainable economy geared to closed material cycles. Biorefineries are thus key technologies for the actual decoupling of energy and consumer goods production from fossil resources. The implementation of biorefineries can make an essential contribution to the reduction of climate-relevant emissions.

The goal of the Task is to contribute to the development and commercialization of competitive, environmentally friendly, and socially acceptable biorefineries that efficiently produce food, feed, feedstock, chemicals, and bioenergy in a waste-free manner. The Energieinstitut has taken the lead in the current period in Work Package 1: Provision of quantitative, scientifically sound and understandable data on the technical, economic and environmental added value of biorefining for the sustainable co-production of bioenergy and biobased products.
