Decarbonization of industry – an ecological challenge
In the EU Horizon2020 BAMBOO project, the Energieinstitut an der JKU Linz together with 18 partners from research, technology providers, and energy-intensive industrial companies have taken on this task. Established consumption and production patterns must be adapted, and renewables play an essential role. This requires an increase in electrical flexibility, the utilization of waste streams, and the use of waste heat.
The following technologies were analyzed in the BAMBOO project and evaluated in demo plants: High-Temperature Heat Pumps, Organic Rankine Cycles, Virtual Battery Concept, Multi-Fuel Combustion and Flame-Monitoring.
The tasks of the Energieinstitut included a holistic evaluation of environmental and economic aspects of the demo plants.
