EVELIXIA: Transforming Buildings into Active Utility Nodes (BAUNs)

Evelixia, which brings together 36 prestigious organisations from 12 EU countries, aims to transform the European building stock by improving energy efficiency, creating connectivity, implementing smart solutions and providing flexibility.

Innovative pathways: Evelixia structures its solutions across five pathways:

  • Building-to-Grid (B2G) services
  • Grid-to-Building (G2B) services
  • Human-to-building interfaces & interactivity
  • Interoperability of systems
  • Innovative hardware as an enabler of flexibility

Real-life pilots: The project is ready to integrate, deploy and validate its solutions in seven large-scale pilots in different countries (GR, RO, FR, FI, ES, AT, DK).

Focus on social engagement: Evelixia empowers citizens not only as users but also as co-creators, focussing on citizen participation methods and advanced human-building interfaces.

The Energieinstitut an der JKU Linz is leading Task 7.5: Our team will actively engage with innovators and facilitate the integration of 3 to 5 European innovators into the future Evelixia platform.

Expected results:

  • 14 scalable B2G/G2B services proven
  • Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 17%
  • Increase in flexibility by up to 25%
  • Increase in self-consumption by up to 100%
  • 13.5% reduction in energy consumption
  • 11% increase in renewable energy generation.
