Due to their complex composition, agricultural residues and waste are rarely used economically and are usually disposed of at great expense. The aim of AGreenNew is to process these residues into biosurfactants, plant fertilisers and protein-rich animal feed, thereby keeping the valuable materials they contain in circulation. The aim is to strengthen regional value creation and reduce dependence on fossil and non-sustainable raw materials. The project includes technical developments and sustainability assessments using life cycle assessments, economic potential assessments and logistical considerations such as raw material sourcing and transport. The results of AGreeNew will be used to inform decisions on the expansion of the agricultural biorefinery.
