Innovationspreis

The project Heat Highway wins prize for innovation!

Wow! Prize for Innovation for the HeatHighway project led by the Energieinstitut an der JKU Linz!

The Upper Austrian State Prize for Innovation was awarded for the 30th time this year. With the HeatHighway project led by our key researcher Simon Moser, the colleagues at the Energieinstitut were able to secure first place in the research category together with the 16 other project partners.

The HeatHighway project investigates supra-regional heat transmission networks, focusing on the use of multiple waste heat sources. HeatHighway goes far beyond the state of the art in terms of the number of players involved, interregionality and interaction. Robert Tichler and Simon Moser accepted the state prize on behalf of the entire project team. The award underlines once again that new concepts and innovative solutions are essential to drive progress in the field of energy supply in (Upper) Austria.

More interest in the project? A virtual demonstrator of the ongoing research project is on display at Ars Electronica. A report on the project will also soon be broadcast on ORF2 on OÖ heute. A first publication on the innovative concept can be found here: https://www.mdpi.com/1996-1073/14/12/3380

Many thanks to all our cooperation partners! And, of course, to our dedicated project team for their outstanding work. Congratulations on this great recognition! Thanks also to the funding bodies Climate and Energy Fund and the Land OÖ as well as NEFI – New Energy for Industry.
