ZEUS Kick-Off: “Hard-to-abate” industries in the energy system of the future

Last month, the kick-off meeting of the project ZEUS – Zero Emission throUgh Sectorcoupling took place! The Energieinstitut an der JKU Linz is a partner in this project and has attended the kick-off meeting with three motivated people (Robert Tichler, Hans Böhm and Andreas Zauner).

The focus is on the development and cross-sectoral demonstration of climate-neutral process chains in the steel and cement industry – from the grid-friendly production and processing of green hydrogen to the capture of CO2 from industrial waste gases and conversion into valuable, storable products.

Our contribution: We are conducting a technology impact assessment on sector coupling with the aim of a holistic evaluation of the technologies developed in the ZEUS project and the identification of synergies in the energy-intensive industry.

The ZEUS project will show ways in which the “hard-to-abate” industrial sectors can also be led into a climate-neutral future. We will keep you up to date.

We look forward to working with: K1-MET GmbH, GIG Karasek GmbH – A Member of Dr. Aichhorn Group GmbH, Johannes Kepler University Linz, Montanuniversität Leoben, Rohrdorfer, Vienna University of Technology, VERBUND AG, WIVA P&G, voestalpine

This project is funded by the Austrian Climate and Energy Fund and carried out as part of the Energy Research Program 2022. https://www.klimafonds.gv.at/
