Priv.-Doz. Dr. Johannes Reichl
Scientific Head of the Energy Economics Department
Johannes Reichl is Scientific Head of the Energy Economics Department at the Energieinstitut an der Johannes Kepler Universität Linz. He received his PhD in Statistics from Johannes Kepler University Linz in 2009 and his Habilitation – Venia Docendi for Econometrics in 2022. His research focuses on the development of methods and tools for a better understanding of the role of households in the energy sector, as well as methods and tools for the analysis of the economic impact of new technologies in the energy sector. Johannes Reichl is currently leading the EU H2020 research projects “establishing Community Renewable Energy Webs” (eCREW) and “Citizens Acting on Mitigation Pathways through Active Implementation of a Goal-setting Network” (CAMPAIGNers), and was the leader of the EU H2020 research project PEAKapp (Personal Energy Administration Kiosk application). Furthermore, he is the lead developer of the software tool www.blackout-simulator.com, which allows an estimation of the economic damages caused by power outages in the European power grid. Johannes Reichl has published his research results on energy security in leading journals and two books.
